Family Photo Outfits 101

I know first hand how overwhelming coordinating the perfect look for your family photos can be. One of our goals when curating our collections is to ease that pain by creating the perfect outfits for you! We love assisting in putting together looks that work for the whole family, while making the experience as easy as possible.

Some tips I’d like to offer:

-Choose a color palette. 2-3 colors with a neutral work best. Sometimes picking just 1or 2 colors, leads to an overly matchy look (which works for some!) but I like adding an additional color in there to create a more natural, candid style.

-Mom/s, pick your outfit/s first. Flowing dresses or skirts work wonders for creating movement in photos and create beautiful long lines within images. A neutral color works well or, my favorite, a gorgeously patterned multicolor maxi can really make you pop!

-We see a lot of people in store that are nervous to mix patterns between outfits. Don’t be! Patterns add such wonderful texture to your photos. Think about mixing a bold floral with a dainty plaid. Or a sailboat print with fishermen’s sweater or corduroy. As long as the prints are on different scales, the mixing works!

If this still leaves you feeling overwhelmed, shop our curated collection of looks for mom and kids here (sorry, dads- maybe one day we’ll have enough space in store for outfits for you too!) and visit our Hudson Storefront to see everything in person.

xoxo,

Sarah
